Hello and welcome to my blog!
I decided a few months ago that I was going to give watercolour painting a go. I have spent the time collecting the equipment I needed and watching Bob Davies's instructional DVDs. Yesterday I decided to finally give it a go...

In August we had a family break in the Lake District and being an avid photographer I took some photos as we passed by Bassenthwaite Lake and this was my starting point

The paints I used were ultramarine blue for the sky and lake, Lemon Yellow, Burnt Sienna, Crimson Red and Burnt Umber for the hills and greenery. Using a mixture of colours to make my own greens.

I framed it with a frame and mount we had at home and am very pleased with the effect.

Well done Kev, for a first attempt it is great. Lovely to see you carry your passion through, and obviously, the more you do the better it gets. Well done, Helen x

Great first attempt Kev! And such a beautiful scene as well.

Looking forward to see you progressing from here as you learn more techniques and develop your style.

Great start Kev - the only things I can paint are walls and ceilings! Enjoy your new hobby and that's main thing about hobbies - enjoying what you're doing. Being a photographer is a great place to start as you've already got an artistic eye (or two - lol!) so know how to capture a good subject, then going on to produce an original piece of art - even better! Have fun!
